At Encore Strings Birmingham, one of our favorite parts of the planning process is helping couples select music that feels deeply personal to them. Sometimes that means choosing beloved classical favorites. Other times, it means collaborating to create something entirely new.
Emma and Brennan’s wedding was a beautiful example of what that collaboration can look like.

Creating Music Together
From the very beginning, Emma knew one thing for certain: she wanted a string quartet to perform during her wedding ceremony.
While Encore Strings Birmingham also offers solo violin, solo cello, string duo, and string trio ensembles, Emma had dreamed of hearing the rich, full sound of a string quartet ever since she was a little girl. Before the ceremony, her mother shared with us that this had been Emma’s vision for as long as she could remember. She wasn’t sure where the dream began — but she knew it had always been there.
Being part of the realization of that lifelong dream made the day especially meaningful for all of us.

A Collaborative Planning Experience
Emma’s ceremony music was unlike any we had performed before.
Rather than simply choosing selections from our existing repertoire, Emma introduced several contemporary Christian songs that were deeply meaningful to her. Together, we worked to find arrangements that would translate beautifully for string quartet.
Throughout the planning process, Emma and Caroline, owner of Encore Strings Birmingham, exchanged YouTube recordings, compared sheet music, and searched for the arrangements that would best capture the beauty of each piece. The result was a ceremony soundtrack that felt completely personal while maintaining the elegance and sophistication of live strings.
It’s one of the things we love most about serving our couples. When a particular song holds special meaning, we’re always excited to explore how it can become part of our repertoire.
