Jingle Jam 2025 was a joyful celebration of music, collaboration, and seasonal cheer. This annual one-day experience brought together 15 violin, viola, and cello students for an immersive journey — from individual preparation to ensemble rehearsal and performance — all in a single, meaningful day.
The day began with a 2.5-hour rehearsal at Vestavia Hills Baptist Church, where students worked alongside Encore Strings Birmingham faculty to bring their individual parts together as a cohesive ensemble. Guided by Encore Strings Birmingham teachers Caroline Nordlund, Samuel Nordlund, and Angie Flaniken, students focused on listening, blending, and responding to one another — essential skills for any developing musician.
That afternoon, the students shared their music at Brookdale University Park, presenting a 35-minute holiday program that delighted residents and audience members alike. The repertoire included beloved classics such as Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, O Come All Ye Faithful, Good King Wenceslas, and more — music that filled the space with warmth, nostalgia, and joy.
“My girls have enjoyed playing with Encore Strings Birmingham for the past two years! It has been a wonderful opportunity for them to learn new songs and hymns with a fun group and bless others with music.”
— Laura K., parent
Jingle Jam is a unique experience because it challenges students to prepare independently, collaborate efficiently, and perform confidently — all within one day. Beyond musical growth, the event offers something even more meaningful: the opportunity to share the gift of music with the community during the holiday season.
